Katie Salz: Vice Chair
Katie Salz is a seasoned Environmental Educator with over a decade of experience in food justice and sovereignty. She specializes in community-led initiatives, transforming abandoned lots into thriving urban farms and gardens. Katie’s approach is distinctively collaborative, fostering community partnerships and integrating economic sustainability into her programs. As a self-described ‘community matchmaker,’ she empowers grassroots solutions rather than imposing top-down approaches. Currently, Katie is developing a community composting project that utilizes chickens to divert food waste. A southern Maine resident, Katie is always open to new connections and projects. In her free time, she enjoys homesteading, crafting, reading, and beachcombing for seaglass.
